Minutes

Lisa Thoman-Cha gave a brief update on House Bills 335 and 96. HB 335 would eliminate inside millage, which could reduce Bucyrus City Schools' revenue by about $677,000 annually. Combined with HB 96’s proposed cap on cash reserves, both bills could significantly impact district finances. The district’s FY29 forecast shows a negative balance, with capital funds set aside. Further updates will follow as more information becomes available.

7. Superintendent's Report

Minutes

The district received an additional $20,000 CTE grant to purchase equipment and expand student credentialing opportunities.

Six staff members completed a career readiness boot camp, with strong feedback and a recommendation to expand the experience to more staff.


7.1 Reschedule July 17th Regular Meeting to July 10th

The July board meeting is proposed to be rescheduled to July 17 due to vacation schedules. Item 7.1 is being moved to 10.19 for action.

7.2 Energy Optimizers Lighting Project

Minutes

A representative from Energy Optimizers, USA is expected to present next month about a $75,000 LED lighting upgrade project. The project could result in $700,000+ in energy savings over 15 years.


7.3 Renhill Aides

Salary Schedule

Minutes

A future proposal is planned to increase pay for Renhill aides by aligning them with the Bucyrus aide salary schedule (no benefits), to address recruitment challenges.


7.4 Administrator Pickup

Maintenance

Minutes

The superintendent mentioned a potential 10% retirement pickup for Maintenance Director Brian Mitchell, who is developing a five-year facilities and maintenance plan. It will be presented at the July board meeting.
